Updated: Apr 12, 2019

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Stars

Quotes to Remember:

  • “I'm not sure anyone knows what they're looking for until they find it.”

  • “I only have one heart, and I'm saving it.”

  • “You can be brave and still be feminine. You can lead and still love flowers. Most importantly, you can be queen and still be a bride.”

  • “There are some things you don't learn about yourself until you let someone else into the most intimate places of your heart.”

  • “I kept thinking that I couldn't live my life for other people, that love was nothing but chains. And maybe it was, but so help me, I needed these chains.”

My Review:

So I really liked this book. Not as much as The Selection or The One but I really enjoyed getting to see how America and Maxon handled life after marriage. I also really enjoyed getting to know their daughter, Eadlyn. Also if I didn't want a twin before I really wish I had a twin now.

This book (obviously) had a much different perspective being from the perspective of the person holding the selection but I liked the different perspective. I also enjoyed watching her character development throughout the whole thing.

I was really skeptical about continuing the series because I was scared that I wouldn't like it as much but I really like Eadlyn and her story. I want to go into details about some of the boys but I can't without spoiling things so if you want to read about them go to the review I wrote with spoilers!

Publisher's Description:

The Heir by Kiera Cass (The Selection: Book 4)

Princess Eadlyn has grown up hearing endless stories about how her mother and father met. Twenty years ago, America Singer entered the Selection and won the heart of Prince Maxon—and they lived happily ever after. Eadlyn has always found their fairy-tale story romantic, but she has no interest in trying to repeat it. If it were up to her, she'd put off marriage for as long as possible.

But a princess's life is never entirely her own, and Eadlyn can't escape her very own Selection—no matter how fervently she protests.

Eadlyn doesn't expect her story to end in romance. But as the competition begins, one entry may just capture Eadlyn's heart, showing her all the possibilities that lie in front of her . . . and proving that finding her own happily ever after isn't as impossible as she's always thought.
